Last week, the body of Instagram influencer Beauty Couch was found near a burned car in Georgia. Now, her boyfriend has been arrested and charged with her murder.
Eugene Louis-Jocques, 21, was arrested in Louisiana on Saturday, just three days after 22-year-old Couch’s remains were found by first responders, after they put out her burning car that was left on the side of the road in Austell, Georgia.
The Cobb County Police Department released a statement on Facebook: “Austell Police responded to the address where the vehicle was registered and learned the owner’s daughter, Beauty Couch (22, Austell), had not been seen since the previous morning and was the one who most commonly drove the vehicle. Austell Police searched the area where the vehicle was found and located a body that matched the description of Beauty Couch in the wood line. Based on the initial scene investigation, foul play is suspected.”
Louis-Jocques, of Naples, Florida, was arrested while he traveled through St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, after being named as a prime suspect in the case, local outlet WWL-TV reported.
“Let the message be that we do not take kindly to people who think they can commit a crime elsewhere and try to hide in St. Tammany Parish,” Sheriff Randy Smith said in a statement. “We were happy to help our counterparts in Georgia by locating this suspect and taking him into custody so he may face justice and Miss Couch’s family can begin to receive closure during this difficult time.”
Couch, also known as Beauty Katera, had garnered nearly 150,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared videos of her dance moves while wearing roller skates.
“She was a sweet girl,” said Kimberly Couch, Beauty’s mother. “She never bothered nobody. She never bothered nobody. She was a friend to everybody.” Couch added that she never imagined she would feel this type of pain, WAGA-TV reported.
“They burned my baby’s car up. They burned her car up. They treated her like she was a dog. I don’t like that,” she said.
Couch’s sister Leila Brown said that she couldn’t imagine a reason as to why anyone would kill the influencer.
“I can’t imagine her being in this situation at all because she was so lovable, so caring, so fun, and so amazing,” Brown said. “She impacted a lot of people and she did nothing to anybody for anyone to want to do her like this.”
Louis-Jocques has been charged with murder, arson and aggravated assault. He is currently being held at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Facility while he awaits extradition to Cobb County, Ga.
