An unusual and sad report from Brazil has sent ripples across the music world.
Brazilian singer Darlyn Morais, 28, died on Monday after being bitten by a spider. His stepdaughter was also bit and remains hospitalized.
The Sun was among the first to report that Morais was bitten on October 31 at his home in Miranorte, Brazil.
The type of spider has not been revealed, but many speculate it was a brown recluse.
Jhullyenny Lisboa, Morais’ wife, shared she noticed a bruise on her husband’s face, followed by body fatigue and discoloration. His health deteriorated rapidly, prompting family members to rush him to Palmas General Hospital on Sunday.
Lisboa added that Morais “felt weakness in his body and his face started to darken on the same day. He went to the hospital and was admitted to the HGP this Sunday.”
Local media sources reported that “despite the efforts of medical professionals, Morais tragically succumbed to the complications and was pronounced dead Monday.”
The Daily Caller reported that Morais’ 18-year-old stepdaughter was also bitten and remains in stable condition at Palmas General Hospital in Miranorte.
The Caller also reported that recently, U.S. Atlanta-based musician Gabe Lustman almost died after initially dismissing the severity of a brown recluse spider bite. His health also deteriorated during a concert which prompted his quick exit to a local hospital.
