In another case of “died suddenly,” Brazilian fitness influencer Larissa Borges, 33, died on Monday.
Borges’ father Luciano announced that Larissa died of a double heart attack. The fitness influencer had no known preexisting medical conditions.
Larissa’s brother, Pedro Borges, wrote: “Two cardiac arrests early this morning, at 4:30 am and “I am very sad to say that my sister, my blood, my friend and partner for all hours, died at 4:45 am.”
According to the New York Post, local media revealed the Federal District native was hospitalized while traveling in Gramado.
Brazilian media reported that Larissa suffered a heart attack on August 20. She fell into a coma after admittance to a hospital and shortly thereafter experienced a second and fatal heart attack.
An Instagram statement from Larissa’s family read: “The pain of losing someone so young, just 33 years old, and so kind, is overwhelming. Our hearts are broken, and the longing we will feel is indescribable.”
Local news outlet Globo.com speculated as to possible causes of death — suggesting that rigorous exercise may have contributed to her early demise.
Deputy Gustavo Barcellos reported: “There is a report of a possible ingestion of narcotic substances accumulated with alcoholic beverages. The body was sent for necropsy. We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed.”
Larissa’s more than 30,000 followers recognized her immense passion and commitment to the fitness world.
Renowned cardiologist Dr. Paul Gilbert, cited in The Daily Wire, emphasized the risks involved when one doesn’t listen to their body. Even though fitness is essential, it is equally vital to recognize the signs when something is amiss.
Larissa Borges’s passing is a profound loss to the fitness community. It prompts a necessary reevaluation of the messages sent to young impressionable followers.
Her family is seeking public assistance with donations to bring her body back to her hometown for burial.
“Any amount, however small, will make a difference and help ease the financial burden facing the family during this very challenging time,” the family wrote.
