More than a year after the tragic shooting and death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, prosecutors have announced that several involved in the case will face criminal charges.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to announce the coming charges. Early Thursday morning, Fox News reported that the presentation of charges was imminent.
In breaking news, prosecutors announced they have formally charged Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter. The actor was holding a colt revolver while rehearsing a scene for the film “Rust” when the weapon discharged, fatally wounding Hutchins, a friend of Baldwin.
Baldwin has claimed he did not know the pistol was loaded with live ammunition.
NBC News reported that New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who worked as the armorer on the “Rust” set, is also charged with involuntary manslaughter.
David Halls, the film’s first assistant director, agreed to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon, according to Carmack-Altwies’ office.
The charges come after prosecutors reviewed the more than 500-page October 2022 report from the Sante Fe Sheriff’s Office.
