My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell is the latest to face a stiff financial penalty for claiming the 2020 election was “rigged” to favor Democrats.
Earlier this week, Fox News settled out of court for $787 million in a defamation suit led by Dominion Voting Systems. On Thursday, an arbitrator ordered Lindell to pay $5 million to a software expert who reportedly disproved Lindell’s claims.
In 2021, Lindell made multiple claims that he had evidence proving Democrats coordinated a concerted effort to undermine and change election results to ensure former President Donald Trump lost the election and various DNC leaders won their races.
In support of his claims, Lindell promised to pay $5 million to anyone who could disprove his conclusions. Software engineer Robert Zeidman took up the challenge.
CNN reported that a private arbitrator ruled that Zeidman was able to show Lindell’s conclusions were inaccurate.
Since late 2020, Lindell repeatedly claimed that DNC operatives and Chinese agents interfered in the election. Lindell’s claims, coupled with a “Prove Mike Wrong Challenge,” which included a $5 million prize to anyone who could disprove his conclusions, put the My Pillow CEO in a vulnerable financial position.
Zeidman submitted data reportedly showing Lindell’s conclusions to be in error, but Lindell’s team disputed Zeidman’s work and refused to award the $5 million prize money. Zeidman responded by filing for arbitration.
The arbitrator ruled: “Based on the foregoing analysis Mr. Zeidman performed under the contract, he proved the data Lindell LLC provided, and represented reflected information from the November 2020 election, unequivocally did not reflect November 2020 election data. Failure to pay Mr. Zeidman the $5 million prized was a breach of the contract, entitling him to recover.”
The arbitrator ruled that Lindell must award Zeidman $5 million within 30 days.
Lindell disputes the arbitrator’s conclusions and plans to take the matter to court. In a brief statement to The Hill, Lindell said, “It was a horrible decision, and it is all going to end up in court.”
