After repeatedly thwarted moves to limit fossil fuel production and reverse Trump-era initiatives, which helped make America “energy independent” in 2020, President Biden is now threatening to declare a national climate emergency, allowing him to regulate fossil fuels without congressional approval.

The Washington Post reported on the developments, noting that a White House spokesperson said:

“The President made clear that if the Senate doesn’t act to tackle the climate crisis and strengthen our domestic clean energy industry, he will. …We are considering all options and no decision has been made.”

The administration’s energy policies have had a profound negative impact on America’s economy. Inflation is at a 40-year high and is not projected to ease soon.

Republicans have resisted investing additional trillions in green energy initiatives pushed by the left.

Last week, Republicans in the Senate received an assist from the clear-thinking Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., a moderate Democrat who voted against Biden’s pending massive green energy bill.

Manchin cited concerns about “inflationary pressures” as a reason to reject the bill. Democrats raged and the GOP celebrated the fiscal victory; however, the White House is now poised to strike back.

Fearing Republicans will gain control of the House and Senate after the November midterms, some DNC leaders are urging Biden to exercise presidential powers to enact changes immediately.

According to Blazemedia, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., told reporters on Monday:

“This is an important moment. There is probably nothing more important for our nation and our world than for the United States to drive a bold, energetic transition in its energy economy from fossil fuels to renewable energy.”

Reuters reports that Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., is also on record urging the president to take executive action, arguing that such a move would “unchain” Biden from the constraints of congressional approval.

Whitehouse said: “I’ve talked to the White House about going on offense and being aggressive and doing all the things that it is within the executive powers to do that have not so far been done.”

According to the Washington Post, climate activists are pushing Biden to halt exports of crude oil, limit oil and gas drilling in federal waters and direct federal agencies — including the Federal Emergency Management Agency — to spend taxpayer dollars subsidizing renewable-energy sources.

Over the weekend, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recommended that Americans concerned with high gas prices should buy an electric car. He was roundly criticized for his puerile comment.

Jared Bernstein, a top White House economic adviser, told reporters on Monday that the president will “aggressively fight to attack climate change.”

The words resonate with most Americans, but most question the president’s ability to deliver and worry that poor executive decisions can further harm the U.S. economy.

“I think realistically there is a lot he can do and there is a lot he will do,” Bernstein said.

Postscript: Disclose.TV notes that Biden will issue “climate executive orders” tomorrow.
