President Biden recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the media’s portrayal of the economy as he was leaving the White House for his Christmas vacation at Camp David.
When a reporter inquired about his economic outlook for 2024, Biden replied, “All good. Take a look.” He then added, “Start reporting it the right way,” accompanied by a smirk.
Biden’s criticism of the press is not new; he has often accused them of emphasizing negative news over positive developments from his administration. Despite this, his approval ratings continue to plummet, with his handling of the economy being a significant factor in his unpopularity.
A recent Fox News poll revealed that only 14% of Americans feel Biden’s economic policies have benefited them, while nearly half (46%) believe these policies have financially harmed them. This pessimism spans across party lines, with 61% of Democrats, 93% of Republicans and 85% of independents viewing the economy negatively.
Concerns are growing among Democrats about Biden’s prospects in the 2024 presidential election. Current polls show him trailing former President Trump by more than two points in a potential rematch. Factors that could further impact Biden negatively include his approach to the border crisis, international issues in Ukraine and Israel, legal challenges faced by his son Hunter and the recent impeachment inquiry initiated by House Republicans.
