Border czar Tom Homan fired back at MSNBC host Joy Reid during an appearance on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Tuesday night.
Homan, known for his firm stance on border security, dismissed Reid’s remarks on the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts, calling her “dumber than a box of rocks.”
The nationwide ICE operations, part of former President Donald Trump’s push for stronger immigration enforcement, have led to the arrests of more than 4,500 violent criminals, including convicted murderers, gang members and kidnappers. The initiative aligns with Trump’s campaign pledge to crack down on illegal immigration and make American cities safer.
The exchange stemmed from a segment on Reid’s show, where she referred to the raids as “performative,” the New York Post reports. New York Attorney General Letitia James, who was a guest on the program, called the enforcement actions “reckless.”
In response, Homan did not hold back.
“She’s dumber than a box of rocks,” he said before breaking down the reasoning behind the operations.
“What ICE did in Chicago is saved children. What we did in New York today is save children.”
“Just in Chicago alone, we arrested at least nine s*xual predators, most of them child s*x predators. We took them off the street,” he stated.
Homan also highlighted concerns over national security, citing a significant rise in the number of individuals on the terrorist watch list crossing into the U.S. under the Biden administration.
“Under Biden, we had a 3,500% increase in people on terrorist watch lists. No, we’re saving this nation,” he said.
“We make America safe again. So they need to get out of the way because we’re coming.”
“We’re going to do it. They’re not going to stop us.”
ICE has been transparent about its enforcement actions, regularly sharing arrest updates on social media.
On Wednesday, the agency reported 1,016 arrests and 814 detainers lodged, underscoring its commitment to targeting violent offenders under the Trump administration’s directive.Â
Homan’s remarks reflect broader concerns among conservatives about illegal immigration and public safety. The Biden administration’s border policies have been a key point of contention, with critics arguing that they have contributed to increased crime and security risks.Â
The surge in illegal crossings has fueled ongoing debates over national security, with many calling for stricter enforcement to prevent potential threats from entering the country.
Meanwhile, Reid, known for her vocal opposition to Trump and his policies, has frequently been criticized by conservative media. Her coverage of immigration enforcement has drawn scrutiny, with critics accusing her of downplaying the risks posed by illegal immigration, according to the Post.Â
Conservative commentators have argued that her rhetoric misrepresents the dangers posed by unchecked migration and undermines the efforts of law enforcement agencies.
The Trump administration is no stranger to heavy criticism from the left over its deportation operation. Earlier this week, Resist the Mainstream reported that Hollywood actress Selena Gomez shared her discontent with the deportations in an emotional video.Â
The actress shared her heartbreak in the now-deleted video, stating that she felt hopeless about the situation. Homan appeared unmoved by Gomez’s video, saying, “No apologies,” maintaining that the enforcement operations were necessary to protect American communities and remove dangerous criminals from the country.
