Former ICE Director Tom Homan, recently appointed as Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, discussed plans to address the migration crisis during an interview with Tucker Carlson.
In a surprising twist, Homan addressed potentially relocating migrants to affluent liberal neighborhoods.
The 63-year-old, who previously served as acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Trump’s first term, engaged in a candid discussion with Carlson about migration policy and enforcement strategies.
The conversation centered on the possibility of relocating migrants to areas such as Bethesda, Brookline, Aspen, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
During the exchange, Carlson specifically proposed moving Haitian migrants to these locations, offering to “donate money” to support such initiatives.
The ex-Fox News host asked: “Is there any way to move millions of Haitians into rich, white, liberal neighborhoods?”
Homan laughed at the question, but Carlson quickly doubled down: “The people who did this are rich, white liberals in the United States who hate themselves and the country and to punish it, they invited all these people illegally from failed countries but they can’t stand the idea of living near these people because they’re racist.”
The suggestion follows previous actions by Republican governors who have transported migrants to liberal enclaves, including Martha’s Vineyard, as part of their strategy to distribute the impact of migration across the country.
“We absolutely could do it,” Homan said in response to Carlson’s inquiry. “Martha’s Vineyard did it!”
Homan praised Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s border security efforts, stating that Abbott has done “more to secure the border than anybody in [the Biden Administration].”
He also commended Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for implementing similar measures.
The newly appointed border czar presented stark statistics about the current situation, claiming that border authorities have “encountered” 10.5 million illegal migrants, with over two million allegedly evading capture.
He characterized the situation as an “invasion” and suggested it was “by design, not mismanagement.”
Looking ahead to his role in the potential Trump administration, Homan outlined plans to verify asylum seekers’ status and arrest individuals harboring criminal migrants.
He emphasized that while family separation is not an explicit policy goal, it might occur as a consequence of law enforcement actions.
Regarding deportation procedures, Homan detailed plans to prioritize the removal of migrants who have committed crimes while in the United States.
The strategy would extend to reviewing the status of legal migrants, including asylum seekers and those who entered under humanitarian parole during the Biden administration.
The border czar also announced intentions to investigate NGOs, including the United Nations, regarding their role in migration patterns.
He expressed support for reviving the “remain in Mexico” program and continuing border wall construction.
Homan made headlines last week after he announced plans for a massive deportation effort targeting Chicago.
