The Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship.
Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, made the announcement on X, and Owens confirmed the news on her personal account.
“The rumors are true— I am finally free,” Owens wrote. “If you would like to support my work, you can head to CandaceOwens.com where you will be directed to my locals page. Or, you can give a gift at gocandace.com.”
“There will be many announcements in the weeks to come,” she added.
The two parted ways on Friday after weeks of tension with the outlet’s co-founder Ben Shapiro over the Israel-Hamas war.
She has also been engaged in fiery online debates with several members of the Jewish community who she claims are targeting her for being a Christian, The Daily Mail reports.
Following the news, social media users flocked to X share their mixed takes on the Owens departure.
“Everyone in conservative media knows you get blacklisted, smeared, fired, cancelled, bad mouthed behind the scenes and harassed if you don’t abide by the anti-Semitism speech laws being passed into legislation,” wrote An0maly.
Some users blasted Owens over the move. “Candace Owens is a master of setting fires and complaining about the heat,” wrote Ian Haworth. “She could have quit any time. Bashing your employers while still cashing a paycheck is the lowest of the low.”
“Especially for the most vapid ‘thought leader’ in our movement,” he continued.
On Thursday, Owens defended herself against accusations of anti-semitism, claiming that she had been targeted for standing up to a “network of smears” after the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) shared an article accusing the conservative host of supporting bigotry against the Jews.
The article concerned the controversial political pundit and live streamer Nick Fuentes, an outspoken critic of Jewish people and their culture. The article also cited several instances of Fuentes expressing enthusiasm for Owens’ public comments.
