One of the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” is named in a new U.S. House report recommending a criminal investigation into Liz Cheney for witness tampering, signaling she may soon need legal representation.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s moderate co-host and former Trump spokeswoman, participated in “coaching” sessions with Cassidy Hutchinson, a key witness in Liz Cheney’s January 6 congressional hearings, Trending Politics reports.
House Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) asserts that Farah Griffin played a significant role in helping Hutchinson prepare her public testimony — without a lawyer present. The report deems this “witness tampering,” which is considered a federal crime.
“In the months prior to Hutchinson’s explosive private and public testimony, Cheney communicated with Hutchinson, both directly and through an intermediary—Alyssa Farah Griffin—while Hutchinson was represented by her attorney, Stefan Passantino,” the committee said, according to the Gateway Pundit.
“The Select Committee conducted six transcribed interviews of Hutchinson in total. Passantino represented Hutchinson for the first three interviews.”
One of the most controversial aspects of the report is the revelation of text messages exchanged between Farah Griffin and Hutchinson, which were later released on social media. These messages illustrate a shared animosity toward President-elect Donald Trump, which both women appeared to bond over while preparing Hutchinson’s testimony.
On May 2, 2021, Farah Griffin wrote to Hutchinson, “Hmm ok. That was definitely Liz’s direction,” implying that she was aware of the specific direction Cheney wanted Hutchinson’s testimony to take. Later, Hutchinson asked, “Can you tip off Liz?” Farah Griffin responded, “I am happy to tip Liz off.”
Hutchinson, a former Special Assistant to the President and Coordinator for Legislative Affairs, testified as Cheney’s key witness, blaming Trump for the January 6 violence. She revealed that Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of his vehicle, trying to return to the White House despite Secret Service concerns.
Hutchinson called his actions “unpatriotic” and “un-American.” After the January 6 committee, she shared in a TV interview that she had secretly communicated with Farah Griffin for over a year, arranging a third interview without her former attorney’s knowledge.
The report suggests that Hutchinson’s messages show she and Farah Griffin worked together to fabricate a reason for Hutchinson’s third interview with the Select Committee, emphasizing her “dramatic change in testimony” after Cheney and Farah Griffin’s involvement.
