Los Angeles restaurant patrons seemingly disturbed pop singer Britney Spears Friday when many began filming her with their mobile devices.
Spears, her husband Sam Asghari, and a bodyguard were seated in the Joey restaurant in the Woodland Hills, California, Friday night. Patrons of the upscale eatery instantly recognized the singing sensation, according to a TMZ report.
Many of the diners reportedly used their mobile phones to photograph the celebrity couple dining alongside them, the report noted.
Eyewitnesses claimed Spears became “manic,” yelling and talking gibberish, according to the TMZ report. The words heard by adjacent diners were reportedly not another language, just unrecognizable speech. Asghari abruptly stood, apparently upset, and left the restaurant, according to the report.
The singer reportedly remained at her table for a few minutes, speaking what bystanders reportedly described as “gibberish.” Then, she and the bodyguard reportedly left the restaurant. The report noted the bodyguard soon returned to pay the restaurant bill.
Spears has occasionally exhibited mercurial behavior after a judge freed her from a 13-year conservatorship in November 2021.
A Los Angeles judge ended her conservatorship after determining Spears was of sufficiently sound mind to control her $60 million estate. Her father Jamie had managed her estate after he was appointed conservator in 2008.
Many fans advocated for her on social media, uniting under the hashtag #FreeBritney while the lengthy legal battle played out. Their rejoicing over her court victory was soon tinged with concern when she married Asghari, according to a New York Post report. Some wondered how free she really was after the knot was tied.
Fans also blamed her model husband for panic attacks Spears had, which he denied causing, the report noted.
“No, I don’t even control what we have for dinner,” he reportedly said in a December TMZ interview. “You know, in the past, there has been a lot of stuff going on, so I understand where [fans are] coming from.”
