Caitlyn Jenner said she contacted President Donald Trump after renewing her passport and receiving a document that listed her sex as male.
Jenner discussed the issue during an appearance on Tomi Lahren’s podcast. She said identification documents are important because they are constantly required for travel and everyday verification.
“Every time you turn around, you gotta show ID, ID, ID,” Jenner said.
She said she had previously updated all of her legal documents years earlier to reflect her transition.
According to Jenner, she worked with a law firm to change records from male to female, including her birth certificate, passport, and Global Entry status.
She said those documents remained unchanged until her passport expired and had to be renewed.
After submitting the renewal application, Jenner said the new passport was returned with an “M” marker instead of “F.”
She said she attempted to fix the issue by sending official records to the U.S. Department of State.
“I did everything,” Jenner said, adding that she mailed a hard copy of her amended birth certificate. She said the passport was still returned with a male marker.
The issue comes after Trump signed an executive order stating the federal government would recognize only two sexes, male and female.
The order also said government identification documents should reflect sex at birth.
Following the order, the report states the State Department moved to suspend or restrict passport applications seeking gender marker changes.
Jenner said she later wrote directly to Trump while visiting Mar-a-Lago two months ago.
She said the letter explained how the policy was affecting her and many others.
According to Jenner, Trump was not present that weekend, but Secret Service personnel told her they would place the letter on his desk.
She said she has not received a response.
Jenner also said she was not blaming Trump personally for the passport issue.
“I’m not blaming him whatsoever. I love the guy, and I love what he’s doing,” she said.
The report noted that other public figures have also claimed passport marker changes after recent renewals, per the Daily Mail.
Hunter Schafer reportedly said her passport had been amended to reflect sex at birth after paperwork was submitted.
The policy debate has created legal and political disputes over how federal identification should be handled.
Supporters of the executive order argue government documents should use biological sex classifications.
Critics argue mismatched identification can create travel problems, security delays, and issues when verifying identity.
The report cited estimates from the Williams Institute saying roughly 476,000 transgender adults in the U.S. lack identification documents that accurately reflect their gender marker.
Jenner’s comments are notable because she remains publicly supportive of Trump while criticizing how the policy affected her own records.
