Candace Owens has called for the FBI to be “legally and formally dissolved” after the government agency raided Mar-a-Lago, the Florida home of Donald Trump.

Trump was in New York City while agents raided his home in Palm Beach. Sources confirmed that FBI agents from Washington, D.C., who are on the bureau’s Evidence Response Team conducted the raid and notified the Miami Field Office just before, giving Secret Service agents in the home minutes to prepare for the raid.

In response to news of the raid, Owens tweeted, “The FBI must be legally and formally dissolved. What happened to President Trump is positively stunning and a mark of unchecked government power. I no longer recognize the country I live in. Left or right, we must all come together to fight this evil.”

Agents with the FBI executed a search warrant on Mar-a-Lago because they believed that Trump still had classified information that was supposed to be returned to the National Archives in January of this year, according to new reports.

The report said that federal agents removed over 10 boxes of material from the property, which is being sorted at a local FBI field office. The boxes contain assorted documents and materials that were found in the house, and a source told Fox News that “they were not being judicious about what they took.”

“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said in a statement just as news broke of the raid.

“It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections,” he added.

The raid has received bipartisan condemnation, though for vastly different reasons. While many Republicans have pointed to this moment as proof of a political and biased FBI, democrats have condemned it because it strengthens those claims. Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called on the FBI and DOJ to release information and justification about the raid. He said that, should they refuse to, the groups would be under the perception that it was politically motivated and would taint investigations into January 6.

Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang also condemned the raid, saying that “it seems political,” and arguing that Republicans would use that as a rallying cry for 2024.
