Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, recently discussed the potential of a Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson ticket for the 2024 election.
On his radio program, he expressed his enthusiasm for this idea, considering it an excellent strategy and even going so far as to characterize it as an “election hack.”
Former President Trump, on the “Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show,” expressed his openness to selecting Tucker Carlson as his running mate in 2024. Trump appreciated Carlson’s qualities, saying, “I like Tucker a lot. I guess I would consider him. He’s got great common sense.”
This announcement ignited excitement among Trump’s supporters. Trump and Carlson’s collaboration had previously led to record-breaking viewership figures, with an interview during the first presidential debate attracting 212.3 million impressions.
Kirk elaborated on why he thinks a Trump-Carlson ticket would not only appease the conservative base but also be an effective campaign strategy. He pondered the decision, considering its practicality in gaining victory. “I gotta be honest, I thought about this at first. I think okay, ‘do I love it because it sounds good or do I love it because it’s a good idea?’ I want to win, how do you win in a crowded field? Attention and trust,” he said.
He then pointed out Carlson’s stature within the conservative movement.
“Who is the second most trusted, the second most popular, the second smartest and principled person in the conservative movement? If he was still alive, it would’ve been Rush Limbaugh. I think we all agree with that,” Kirk continued. “It is without doubt Tucker Carlson.”
Kirk also highlighted Carlson’s personal traits, labeling him a “loyal family man” and difficult to attack. He referred to leaks from Carlson’s Fox Nation program that, instead of damaging his reputation, ended up garnering positive reactions. Kirk strongly endorsed Carlson’s suitability for the vice-presidential role.
“He’s real, he’s honest, he’s a true American. And honestly, Tucker is one of the few people who could actually be Trump’s vice president, who if Trump got put in federal prison or one heartbeat away, he would have the exact same agenda,” Kirk said.
