Chasten Buttigieg Mocks Kavanaugh for Fleeing Restaurant Amid Protests. It Immediately Backfires.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s spouse Friday mocked a Supreme Court justice for being escorted from the back of a restaurant.

“Sounds like he just wanted some privacy to make his own dining decisions,” the transportation secretary’s spouse smirkingly said in a Friday Twitter post. His remarks captioned a retweet of Politico’s Daniel Lipmann, describing protesters besieging a restaurant where Justice Brett Kavanaugh was eating.

Progressives upset with conservative Supreme Court justices who helped reverse Roe v. Wade learned Kavanaugh was dining at a local steakhouse Wednesday night.

A group of protesters formed in front of the downtown D.C. steakhouse after getting a tip the justice was in the steakhouse. One of the protesters called the Morton’s manager to demand the restaurant kick Kavanaugh out and refuse to feed him and his family. Then, they began to get loud. The justice’s security detail escorted him out the back door, according to the Politico report.

According to Lipmann’s report, Kavanaugh finished his meal before leaving the restaurant and did not see or hear the protesters.

Whether it was the justice or his security detail who decided to exit the restaurant’s rear door, the prospect for violence had to be considered serious.

In addition to the daily protests outside the suburban Maryland home where he and his wife are raising their young daughters, he narrowly escaped assassination one month ago.

Nicholas Roske flew commercial air from California to Maryland with guns and ammo in a locked case he checked in. When the taxi he hired at the airport dropped him off in front of Kavanaugh’s home on a leafy suburban street, Roske planned to kill him. Two armed Marshals guarding the justice’s home created a quick reality check for the would-be assassin who walked a block away before calling 911 to turn himself in.

“Someone tried to assassinate Kavanaugh a few weeks ago in the home he shares with his wife and very young daughters,” remonstrated political consultant Ellen Carmichael on Twitter. “You’re married to a cabinet secretary.”

“This tweet is deeply irresponsible, and you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Ricochet editor Jon Gabriel fired back at the transportation secretary’s spouse, trying to put the shoe on the other foot to see how he liked it.

“What happens if MAGA types start showing up where ever you and Pete go?” Gabriel asked. “This continued escalation is a dangerous game, especially since Kavanaugh just had an assassination attempt on him. You don’t want the world you’re advocating for.”

Some similarly minded politicians pitilessly piled on scorn for Kavanaugh, including Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

“Poor guy,” remarked the New York congresswoman. “He left before his soufflé because he decided half the country should risk death if they have an ectopic pregnancy within the wrong state lines.”

“It’s all very unfair to him,” she added, “The least they could do is let him eat cake.”
