Hardy, a country music star with a promising future, was in a bus crash in the fall of 2022 that resulted in serious injuries. On Tuesday, his mother disclosed several little-known details about the accident.
The terrible incident happened on Oct. 3, 2022, on an interstate in Tennessee. Hardy was one of four people on board. While moving at approximately 70 mph, the bus “ran off the highway … and flipped into the woods,” according to Music Mayhem.
Hardy’s recovery would last for weeks — resulting in canceled shows, including missing an important sold-out concert at Global Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with his friend, Morgan Wallen.
Hardy’s mother Sarah shared additional details of the crash during a recent interview on the “Got It From My Momma” podcast.
“They [Hardy and Morgan] played a show in Bristol together, and Morgan was actually FaceTiming with Michael [Hardy] when the accident happened.”
Sarah continued: “They were joking around … [but] Morgan knew something had happened. But he wasn’t sure what, so he tried to call back but couldn’t get anyone to answer [their phones]. It just went black. The phone just kind of flew across the room and went black.”
Initially, Wallen thought Hardy was playing a practical joke. Sarah explained: “You know, They just goof around. But [then] … Morgan tried to contact Michael’s bus driver. And through the course of a lot of different things, people began to figure out, oh, something has happened. There were some very, very serious injuries.”
Wallen was the one to pick up his friend Hardy from the hospital. They released a new duet in January.
