The man who Tuesday killed 21 at Robb Elementary School in Texas reportedly messaged a 15-year-old German girl just before.
Salvador Ramos had twice video called the German girl, identified in a Daily Mail report as CeCe on the French messaging app, Yubo. In one of the calls to the girl, he was filmed shirtless; in the other, he wore a face mask.
According to reports, Ramos messaged CeCe on Yubo the day of the attack. He began with comments about his grandmother, whose house he was reportedly at while messaging. He explained she was on the phone with AT&T about his phone bill. “It’s annoying,” he texted.
“What?” replied the German girl.
“I just shot my grandma in her head,” exclaimed Ramos. “Ima go shoot up an elementary school [right now].”
Hours later, she texted him saying, “I just saw the news…” Ramos was unable to answer because a U.S. Border Patrol agent had fatally shot him in an elementary school classroom before her response.
The girl, whom the report said lives in Frankfurt, Germany, later told CNN she reported the disturbing texts to U.S. authorities but did not think Ramos would actually carry out his threats.
‘I added everything up and it made sense now,” the girl identified as CeCe told CNN. “I was just too dumb to notice all the signals he was giving.”
CeCe said she first chatted with Ramos May 9. The gunman reportedly sent the girl selfie videos, tried to FaceTime her and spoke of plans to eventually visit her in Europe in videos and text messages reportedly reviewed by CNN.
Ramos reportedly made a video call to the 15-year-old on May 16 from a gun store. He reportedly informed her he was buying an AR-15 rifle.

The girl received another call from an excited Ramos Monday the night before the shooting. He reportedly boasted about receiving a box of particularly lethal ammunition for the rifle, CNN reported.
CeCe said Ramos also showed her over FaceTime a black bag containing several magazines of ammunition and at least one gun. According to the Daily Mail, Ramos and the girl spoke last on a video call at 10 on the morning of the shooting. In the video call, he reportedly showed off the all-black outfit he wore during the massacre.
Yubo reportedly has exclusive “second-by-second” monitoring of live video calls, using artificial intelligence and human moderators. The French app owners have not clarified how their instantaneous monitoring did not flag Ramos as a threat and alert U.S. authorities of potential danger.
The Daily Mail report included examples of other teen girls Ramos interacted with. Some, he reportedly threatened to rape and kill after they refused to have sex with him.
