On July 24, Vice President Kamala Harris introduced herself, at a White House Meeting she was coordinating, with a ridiculous overview of her preferred pronouns and by commenting on her attire. The introduction, though unbecoming of her office and the nature of the meeting, which focused on issues of national interest, prompted participants to follow her lead and introduce themselves similarly.

The inglorious introduction from the person a heartbeat away from leading the most powerful nation in the free world has been in the spotlight. Notably, reports of positive results coming from the meeting have not. Now some members of Congress are pushing back.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) commented on Vice President Kamala Harris’ highly publicized and questionable leadership style by saying: “What’s the big deal? Let people introduce themselves and represent themselves how they want.”

Republican Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said: “I am concerned that some people are confused about biology and medicine and what their true sex is, but they can call themselves whatever they want to.” Note that Brooks, the only Republican to go on record supporting Harris, recently lost his reelection bid in Alabama’s primary to newcomer Katie Britt.

Many quickly criticized Harris’ introduction:

Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) told Fox: “That was one of the weirdest clips I’ve seen. I don’t know what she was doing introducing herself that way. Is this going to be how the vice president welcomes everybody at a future meeting?”

Emma Heussner, Digital Account Manager at CRC Advisors, noted the similarities between Harris and the lead character in the movie “Legally Blonde.”

“Okay. Hi. I’m Elle Woods, and this is Bruiser Woods, and we’re both Gemini vegetarians. I have a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising from CULA, and I was a Zeta Lambda Nu sweetheart, president of my sorority, Delta Nu, and last year, I was homecoming queen.”

Beth Baumann, who has written for Townhall and the Daily Wire, struck a more serious note, lamenting how Harris’ behavior reflects poorly on the once proud America.

Those on the Left are coming to Harris’ rescue — dismissing and rebuking complaints.

“Let’s not make a big deal out of things, especially when it comes to peoples’ identity,” Bowman said in his statement to Fox News.

Rep. Anthony Brown (D-MD) reportedly said: “I think people should be comfortable and introduce themselves however they want and whatever they believe is the appropriate way of doing it. I know that more and more nowadays people are introducing themselves by pronouns.”
