Despite a fight with stomach cancer he called “debilitating,” country music star Toby Keith announced plans for a road tour.
“It’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we’ll look at something good in the future,” the performing artist stated.
The “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action” singer announced plans in June to undergo cancer treatment, according to a Page Six report.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith said then. “I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”
The country superstar has been foreshadowing his return by venturing out in public more often lately, the report noted.
Keith wowed fans last month with a surprise set at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky.
Also, in November, he was presented the BMI Icon Award at the 2022 BMI Awards, the report noted. Country artists like Carrie Underwood and Eric Church sang tributes to him during the event.
He shared a little love with a young cancer patient by posing for a selfie with her in a Tuesday Instagram post.
“Thumbs up if you’re celebrating #GivingTuesday by donating to the @tkfoundation1!” Keith said. “Your donations make the OK Kids Korral possible, a home away from home for children battling cancer and their families.”
The Toby Keith Foundation began helping children diagnosed with cancer in 2006, according to the foundation website. His foundation focuses around providing no-cost housing for children with cancer.
The foundation opened OK Kids Korral in 2014. OK Kids Korral is a free, convenient and comfortable home for pediatric cancer patients. Patients receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center, Stephenson Cancer Center and other care providers reside there during outpatient treatment.
