Country music artist Kellie Pickler expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she’s received since the death of her husband, Kyle Jacobs.
Jacobs, 49, an accomplished songwriter and producer, died February 17 from suicide.
“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'” Pickler said to People magazine. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”
“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” continued the country music singer.
“It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life,” she explained, adding she plans an intimate memorial for her husband later this fall.
The couple had been together since meeting in a Nashville bar in 2008 and shared a deep bond, according to a Fox News report.
“I didn’t know who he was or what he did,” Pickler told “The Real” in 2015. “We just locked eyes and I went, ‘I gotta know everything about this person.'”
They tied the knot in a surprise New Year’s Day ceremony in 2011, the People report noted, adding Pickler frequently took to social media to express her love for Jacobs.
“Happy birthday to my loving husband and best friend. You are truly my greatest treasure,” she wrote in a 2016 Instagram post, adding, “I love you so much!”
Recalling the day Jacobs proposed, Pickler shared, “One of the most special days in my life will always be June 15th… It is my grandmother’s birthday and it’s also the day my husband Kyle proposed.”
She described the proposal, which took place on Florida’s Rosemary Beach in 2010, as a magical moment where Jacobs had hidden a wooden box in the sand.
“Inside contained a journal that Kyle had written for me, a seashell with my Grandmother’s name ‘Faye’ written on it, and a beautiful engagement ring,” she reminisced.
