The former New York City police officer and U.S. Secret Service agent announced he was leaving Fox during his Thursday podcast. Bongino explained that recent contract negotiations broke down.

The popular host had previously threatened to quit Fox News over their vaccine mandate.

Bongino said: “I really enjoyed myself there. They were good for me for 10 years. It’s a sad day. They did give me the opportunity to do one last show; I don’t want you to think they showed me the door. That’s on me, not on them, but I thought it was best to go this way for now.”

Fox News issued a brief statement: “We thank Dan for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors.”

Bongino hosted Fox News’s successful Saturday evening “Unfiltered” show. His “Canceled in the USA” show ran on the subscription-based Fox Nation.

Bongino told his fans: “The show ending last week was tough. It’s not some big conspiracy theory, I promise you. There’s no acrimony. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension. That’s really it.”

Forbes reported that ratings were not likely the cause for the split – Bongino’s Saturday show regularly topped the ratings, taking the top spot in prime time for the first quarter of 2023.

“We were the No. 1 show 90% of the time. We had a great team,” Bongino said.

The Daily Wire reported that Fox News would replace the “Unfiltered” show this Saturday with the “Lawrence Jones Cross Country” program.

Fox News will announce a permanent replacement for “Unfiltered” in the coming weeks.
