Mayors of California cities may soon echo the plaintive cries of New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams, who claims continuing arrivals of illegal aliens may destroy the Big Apple.
Border Patrol agents in San Diego have begun releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants onto city streets due to the overwhelming influx of migrants into the region, according to a report from Fox News.
This development follows similar actions in Arizona.
Footage from San Diego depicts numerous migrants disembarking from buses, including individuals from China and Pakistan.
In one video segment, a migrant may be heard asking a Border Patrol agent about his newfound freedom.
“You’re free to go on and do wherever you want,” the agent replies to the illegal alien’s question. “You’re free.”
When the migrant further questions, “It’s no problem if I go to Chicago?” The agent assures him, “You can do whatever you want.”
These San Diego releases follow similar actions in the Tucson Sector of Arizona where agents have grappled with approximately 2,000 encounters daily. Photographs surfaced showing overcrowded shelters in areas such as Ajo.
Texas continues to employ razor wire as a deterrent against illegal entries into the state from south of the border.
The Biden administration has sued Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) to remove the buoy barrier deployed in the Rio Grande River.
Recent data indicates southwest border agents have encountered more than 7,000 illegal crossings in a single week. Including those arriving at official ports of entry, this figure escalates to more than 9,000.
Preliminary data suggests migrant encounters for August could surpass 230,000, marking it as the sixth month this fiscal year with encounters exceeding 200,000, the report noted.
This surge presents yet another challenging month for the already strained Border Patrol agents. The ongoing migrant crisis, now in its third year, has repercussions not only for border towns but also for cities further inland.
Both New York City and Chicago have expressed concerns regarding their capacity to handle the influx of illegals.
Adams, recently voiced concerns that the ongoing situation could “destroy” the city, after receiving a little more than 110,000 migrants this year.
Congressional Republicans are advocating for a border security bill to be ratified in the Senate, following its approval in the House but the proposal seems unlikely to gain Democratic backing.
A competing Democratic Party immigration reform bill, which includes provisions for amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, has been dismissed by Republican representatives, according to the Fox report.
