The governor of New York — a state with such rigid vaccine mandates that it was recently labeled as the “least free [s]tate in the nation” — acknowledged on Monday that COVID-related hospitalization statistics were “likely overcounted by as much as 50%,” according to the Daily Wire.

At a speaking engagement in Rochester, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) told News 10 reporter Jennifer Lewke that in 2021, individuals admitted to a hospital due to an injury or auto accident were counted as COVID-related hospitalizations if they tested positive for COVID, even if the hospital did not treat the patient for COVID symptoms.

Hochul noted she had requested hospitals modify their reporting procedures as of January 4, 2022.

“Beginning tomorrow [Tuesday] we’re going to be asking all hospitals to break out for us, how many people are being hospitalized because of COVID symptoms, [and] how many people happen to test positive just while they’re in there for other treatments,” Hochul said.

“I think that’s important, I just want to be honest with New Yorkers about how bad this is,” Hochul continued. “Yes, the number of people infected is high, but I want to see whether or not the hospitalizations correlate with that.”

Some charge the admission points to systematic misrepresentation of data to prompt citizens to be vaccinated.

The governor’s admission follows last week’s surprise disclosure by New York’s acting Health Commissioner, Dr. Mary Bassett, that officials inflated numbers to “motivate” parents to vaccinate their children.

Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci made a similar admission regarding inflated numbers, as reported by the Daily Wire.

Fauci told MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin: “Since all children are tested for COVID-19 when they enter a hospital, regardless of the reason they are there, [then] many children are hospitalized ‘with COVID’ rather than ‘because of COVID,’ [and] because of that, some COVID-19 cases can be ‘over counted.'”

On October 8, 2021, the New York Times issued a correction admitting it had “inflated the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations of children by more than 800,000.”

Americans continue to push for accuracy and transparency in reporting, particularly since these statistics drive government decisions regarding vaccine mandates and lockdowns.
