DHS Employee Among Victims in Deadly Metro Atlanta Rampage; Naturalized Citizen Charged with Murder

A violent series of early-morning attacks across metro Atlanta left two women dead and a third person critically injured, triggering a fast-moving multi-agency investigation that ended with the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect in west Georgia following an hours-long manhunt spanning multiple counties.

The incidents unfolded across DeKalb County and Brookhaven over several hours, with police later linking multiple scenes through timing, geography, and method as they reconstructed a rapid sequence of attacks spanning both residential streets and commercial areas.

Authorities identified the suspect as Olaolukitan Adon-Abel, who was taken into custody during a traffic stop in west Georgia after investigators tracked a silver Volkswagen Jetta believed to be connected to the incidents.

Officials said automated license plate recognition technology helped locate the vehicle as it moved across county lines.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, as first reported by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, said Adon-Abel is a United Kingdom national who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2022 under the Biden administration.

One of the victims was 40-year-old Lauren Bullis, who worked for the DHS Office of Inspector General.

Federal officials confirmed her employment and said she was a respected member of the agency whose contributions were valued within the department, adding that it will fully cooperate with investigators.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullins told Fox News that Bullis was “brutally shot and stabbed to death,” describing the attack as part of a series of “pure evil” acts that had devastated the department.

He added that his prayers were with the victims’ families.

Bullis was attacked while walking her dog in a residential neighborhood during the final phase of the incidents.

Witnesses reported seeing a man in the area shortly before the attack before fleeing the scene. She was pronounced dead at the location where she was found, according to 11Alive.

Earlier in the sequence, a woman was shot multiple times outside a commercial area in DeKalb County and later died from her injuries.

Hours later, a man sleeping outside a shopping center in Brookhaven was ambushed and critically wounded and remains hospitalized in serious condition, according to People.

Investigators say the attacks appear random, with no known link between the suspect and the victims.

The geographic spread across multiple jurisdictions complicated the response, requiring coordination between agencies as authorities pieced together surveillance footage, witness accounts, and digital evidence into a unified timeline.

As the investigation developed, officials also began outlining the suspect’s background.

Mullins indicated that Adon-Abel has prior convictions tied to assault-related offenses in Georgia, including misdemeanor sexual battery charges that resulted in probation and court-ordered conditions.

The involvement of a DHS employee among the victims drew widespread attention to the case.

Bullis was remembered by relatives and colleagues as compassionate and deeply committed to both her work and personal life, with family members saying she brought warmth to those around her.

Authorities continue to analyze surveillance footage, witness statements, and digital tracking data to reconstruct the suspect’s movements in the hours leading up to the attacks.

Prosecutors are expected to file multiple felony charges, including murder and aggravated assault, as the investigation continues.
