Fauci and Wife’s Net Worth Exceeded $11M When He Departed Government Post, Disclosures Reveal

Former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife have a net worth of $11 million after retiring from government service, according to a Fox News report..

Fox reported receiving a copy of his 2022 termination report through an open records request, which detailed Fauci’s financial status up to his departure at the end of that year.

Records indicate the couple’s net worth increased by nearly $2 million since before the pandemic, while noting their net worth decreased from 2021 to 2022.

“During the pandemic years, the Fauci’s became deca-millionaires with their household net worth exceeding $10 million,” said OpenTheBooks CEO Adam Andrzejewski told Fox News. “Last year was a tough year in the markets.”

“However, Fauci’s net worth is still up sharply from $7.6 million in 2019,” Andrzejewski added.

The government watchdog agency’s CEO claimed Fauci was the highest paid federal employee, at $480,654, before his December retirement. He noted Fauci’s salary exceeded the president’s salary of $400,000.

“In retirement, we estimate that Fauci is collecting a federal pension, which rivals a presidential salary,” noted Andrzejewski. “It’s the largest federal retirement package in history.”

Government records reveal that the Faucis’ net worth grew from approximately $9.54 million in 2019 to $11.5 million by the end of 2022.

This increase over the years was attributed to investment gains, awards, compensation and royalties. There was a $1.1 million decrease in their net worth from 2021 when they reported a combined net worth of $12.6 million.

Fauci’s assets are diversified across trust funds, retirement accounts and college education accounts, with investments primarily in mutual funds, according to the Fox report.

By the end of the previous year, Fauci’s account balance was $9.25 million. His wife, Christine Grady, who serves as the National Institutes of Health’s chief bioethicist, contributed approximately $2.2 million, the report noted.

In terms of compensation, Fauci’s salary increased by nearly $25,000 between 2021 and 2022, maintaining his position as the highest-paid federal employee, even surpassing President Biden’s earnings.

In 2022, Fauci received about $481,000, up from the $456,000 he earned the previous year.

After stepping down in December, Fauci joined Georgetown University as a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases.

The medical school’s division focuses on clinical care, research and training in infectious diseases. Additionally, Fauci holds an appointment in the university’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
