A chilling scene unfolded in the serene Alpine town of Annecy on Thursday, as a Syrian refugee went on a violent spree of murder, leaving a trail of horror in his wake.
The disturbing incident took place at Le Paquier park, where families had gathered to enjoy a peaceful day with their children.
However, the tranquility was shattered when a 31-year-old Syrian national, granted legal refugee status in France, went on a rampage of sick violence against the peaceable Europeans there gathered.
In a 90-second video of the incident, the assailant is seen attired in black and menacing his surroundings in an uncanny contrast with the idyllic environment.
