The “Ellen DeGeneres” TV show’s DJ and occasional guest host, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, left a suicide note, according to a TMZ report.
The 40-year-old died Tuesday of suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a hotel room, according to a report from Los Angeles County Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Juan Carillo.
After he failed to check out Tuesday, a maid at the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, California — less than one mile from his home — reportedly found him. The report added an Uber driver transported Boss from his home to the motel. Investigators reportedly learned he placed his phone on “Airplane” mode to prevent being tracked or reached by phone or text.
Law enforcement sources revealed that tWitch’s note, found in the motel room where he committed suicide, was an ambiguous reference to past challenges, according to the report. No explanation was provided about whether Boss’ note identified the source of those challenges.
His wife, Allison Holker, explained to Los Angeles police Tuesday morning something was terribly wrong with her husband, whom she claimed left home without warning and stopped all communication. She insisted he simply left their house without argument or discussion of an issue and did not answer any of her calls.
The outlet reported law enforcement sources revealed they accompanied Boss’ wife back to the family’s home. While there, they conducted a brief check of the property for video footage or other clues to explain his disappearance. Police officers considered listing him as a “critical missing persons” case, the report noted, based on Holker’s insistence that Boss’ behavior was odd.
A 911 call came in shortly after the distraught wife entered an LAPD precinct, TMZ reported. Police were reportedly informed the DJ had been discovered dead at a motel from a self-inflicted gunshot.
