Former NFL standout Sergio Brown has been arrested in San Diego — he was initially listed as a person of interest in a case involving his mother’s death.
Fox News reported that police arrested Brown on Tuesday as a “felony fugitive,” citing San Diego Sheriff’s Department records.
Previously RTM reported that Brown went missing after his mother’s body was found dead in a creek near her home. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide, noting that she was “injured during an assault.”
Brown’s mother Myrtle, 73, resided in Maywood, Illinois.
Brown has been missing for approximately one month; however, he posted several strange videos on Instagram under the handle @intplayerwithapassport, though he has a verified account.
In one video, Brown claimed he was at a vacation resort and spoke of “fake news” and being “kidnapped” by the FBI.
“Fake news. Fake news. Fake news,” Brown said. “It has to be the FBI that came into my house on Bob Marley’s death day with the 511 haze and gas unwarranted. They kidnapped me twice from home — the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police.”
Brown added: “I thought my … mama was on vacation in Sinaloa. That’s … fake news. … She’s retired, and you want to come to me? The FBI had to do it. They have some power to do some s— like that. What … is going on? That’s fake news.”
Last week, some believe Brown, 35, was seen in a video partying in Mexico.
Details of Brown’s arrest are not available at this time.
