Facebook communications director Dani Leve admitted Monday that Facebook censored an iconic photo that was taken just after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
“This was an error,” Level posted on X. “This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. This has been fixed and we apologize for the mistake.”
Lever notably took part in assisting former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) with leaking confidential files about accuser Lindsey Boylan and facilitating Cuomo’s communications strategy, according to an investigation by a New York attorney general, as covered by the New York Post in Aug. 2021.
Numerous users cast doubt on Lever’s claim. Top rated comments on Lever’s post included one saying, “Sure it was,” along with another that read: “It has been nearly 3 hours since you tweeted “this has been fixed”. While Facebook might be fixed, Instagram is still displaying the erroneous fact check. Do better @Meta.”
“Does the job of lying shill ever get old?” asked another.
Resist the Mainstream covered the alleged censorship in a piece written earlier today.
Google faced similar accusations today; Donald Trump, Jr. said that “Big Tech is trying to interfere in the election AGAIN to help Kamala Harris.”
This is a developing story.
