Michael Burry, whom The Street and other financial platforms have referred to as a “legendary financial advisor,” has predicted economic downturns in the past, but his cryptic tweet on Tuesday evening has many concerned.
The Daily Caller noted that Burry is perhaps best known for his “expert pulse on the world of finance.” His financial acumen was noted in the 2015 movie “The Big Short” in which Christian Bale portrayed his character.
Burry has been known to post and then delete his tweets. However, his Tuesday tweet delete did not pertain to just one tweet or the tweets from one week or one month — Burry deleted all tweets.
His last tweet was just one word: “Sell.”
The now-deleted tweet was captured and reposted by several who follow financial news.
Some have tried to minimize the significance of Burry’s tweet and actions, arguing that Burry is a known eccentric. However, outlets such as Insider have framed the tweet as a “grave warning to investors.”
Though President Joe Biden has repeatedly assured Americans that the economy is strong, many government and financial officials have shared economic warnings and predictions.
