A Florida man’s aspirations for a law enforcement career took a dark turn as he confessed to the s*xual abuse of his own cousin during a police department job interview.

Stephen Bodley, 26, now stares at the grim prospect of spending his life behind bars following a conviction by an Orange County jury for s*xual battery on a child, as stated by the office of State Attorney Andrew Bain in a recent news release.

NEW: Florida man convicted after blurting out during a police interview that he s*xually abused a 9-year-old girl.

Predators are now telling on themselves. You love to see it.

Fox News reported that the unsettling saga unfolded as Bodley disclosed details of “playing s*xual games” in a sworn officer application submitted to the Apopka Police Department.

Bodley shockingly reiterated these disturbing revelations during the subsequent interview process.

Bain said the certified voice stress analysis examiner conducted an examination on Bodley, according to Fox.

Bain stated, “During the examination, the examiner prompted Bodley to elaborate on troubling responses he gave in a pre-test questionnaire.”

Bodley disclosed that he had s*xually abused a child years ago and confessed to it upon further questioning.

The Tampa Bay Times, citing an affidavit, reported that detectives located the victim’s mother, who asserted that Bodley and the victim shared a close relationship.

It was revealed that the female victim informed the Florida Department of Children and Families regarding the abuse she endured.

She disclosed that the abuse spanned multiple years, occurring from when Bodley was approximately 14 years old until he reached about 19 years old.

A judge dismissed the request from Bodley’s lawyer to exclude his confession from the trial proceedings, per Fox.

Bodley is slated to receive his sentencing on June 24. The conviction he faces could lead to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The Florida man was predictably dragged on social media as his story made its rounds online.

“If he’d been applying to the CIA or FBI, this kind of admission might have gotten him hired,” posted one user, to which another replied, “Would have fast tracked his a** to the Director position lmao.”

“This is the best that we have for our police forces? What gives? The west has become a laughing stock,” wrote another account.

Some users pointed to the ongoing police staffing crisis plaguing American cities, warning that a department’s inability to find suitable officers will attract more candidates like Bodley.

Resist the Mainstream reported back in March on a Texas police department that claimed “we’ve lost more officers than we’ve hired.”

The department stated that the repercussions of the 2020 “defund the police” movement have plunged the city of Austin’s police into a dire situation regarding “staffing woes.”

It added that entire neighborhoods are being left without police coverage for extended periods, with 911 response times simultaneously ballooning.

President of the Austin Police Association Michael Bullock outlined how past decisions by city leadership have worsened the current predicament, telling Fox News that Austin is on the “brink of a disaster.”

“Previous councils and leadership have actively worked against our officers and department, which has now put us in a free-falling staffing crisis,” Bullock said. “Twice now we’ve had our contract voted down or it has been allowed to expire.”

“Each year since 2017, we’ve lost more officers than we’ve hired,” he continued. “We had to gut our specialized units and force detectives to work backfill on patrol just to try and respond to 911 calls.”

Staffing woes continue. Due to our staffing being at 2006 levels, an entire sector in East Austin went two hours without a patrol officer assigned to the sector today. Our backfill shift made up of detectives and specialized units pulling double duty had to provide coverage.
