Dr. Anthony Fauci, White House adviser and President Joe Biden’s chief voice behind COVID protocols, is slow to accept the science and reevaluate his positions. He has been proven wrong regarding the efficacy of masks and vaccines, the impact of school closures, the mortality rate of COVID-19 and the superiority of natural immunity over vaccines.
Begrudgingly, Fauci has modified a few of his positions, only recently admitting on Fox News that “vaccines do not protect overly well against infection.” However, despite stunning evidence to the contrary, Fauci still claims the COVID-19 virus occurred naturally.
On Monday, that claim and Fauci’s credibility were challenged by former CDC Director Robert Redfield. According to the Epoch Times, Redfield “suspects COVID-19 emerged from the laboratory and had to be educated in the laboratory to gain the efficient human-to-human transmission capability that it has.”
Redfield, an expert in the field, directly contradicts Fauci, who recently told Fox News that he has an “open mind” but dismisses the science-backed supposition that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2019, saying, “It looks very much like this was a natural occurrence.”
Commenting on Fauci’s bold statement, Redfield said:
“There’s very little evidence, if you really want to be critical, to support” the natural emergence theory.
The former CDC head cited the unique transmission capabilities of COVID-19, noting how it varies greatly from other coronaviruses such as Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Redfield told Fox News: “So it’s really exceptional that this virus is one of the most infectious viruses for man. And I still argue that’s because it was educated how to infect human tissue.”
Redfield added:
“The same Wuhan laboratory was the subject of a 2014 report amid claims that researchers performed research on bat-borne viruses that could impact humans.”
Noting his astonishment that Fauci and other key leaders at the CDC and FDA reject the scientific evidence, Redfield told Fox:
“I’m disappointed in the [National Institutes of Health] for not leading an objective evaluation from the beginning. I think it really is antithetical to the science where they took a very strong position that people like myself who are somehow conspiratorial just because we have a different scientific hypothesis.”
The Epoch Times notes that after working at the NIH, Redfield was named by President Trump in March 2018 to head the CDC. He stepped down at the end of Trump’s term in January 2021.
