Alex Bruesewitz, a 27-year-old political strategist who played a crucial role in Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, collapsed on stage during a speech at the 112th annual New York Young Republicans gala on Sunday night.
Bruesewitz was speaking alongside prominent Trump allies Steve Bannon and Dan Scavino when his condition suddenly deteriorated.
Bruesewitz began to look visibly unwell, with his speech becoming increasingly slurred.
At one point, he openly acknowledged his struggle, stating, “I’m forgetting my words.”
Attempting to continue his remarks, Bruesewitz began to discuss a “sham impeachment” before collapsing over the podium.
The entire crowd gasped as people quickly rushed to his aid.
Conservative commentator Jack Posobiec later described the incident as a “fainting spell” after speaking with Bruesewitz backstage.
“He is getting checked out by medical after having a brief fainting spell onstage,” Posobiec reported.
“All levels are normal,” he said, adding, “He’ll be just fine.”
Posobiec also mentioned that Bruesewitz asked him one thing backstage: “‘Did it look cool?’”
X users were quick to offer their prayers for Bruesewitz following the incident.
A key figure in Trump’s campaign, Bruesewitz was hired in the summer to lead youth outreach and communications.
He was credited with helping to reshape Trump’s image among younger voters, positioning the former president as more relatable to a younger demographic.
Daily Mail reported that as the CEO of X Strategies, Bruesewitz had been instrumental in expanding Trump’s media reach beyond traditional conservative outlets.
He pioneered a strategy of engaging with podcasters, comedians and social media personalities to connect with disaffected young audiences.
His approach involved introducing Trump to a diverse range of media personalities, including unconventional interviews with figures like Adin Ross, Theo Von, Logan Paul and others.
The strategy aimed to present Trump in a more informal, authentic light, discussing topics ranging from parenting to current events.
Bruesewitz’s professional background includes publishing a 2022 book titled “Winning the Social Media War: How Conservatives Can Fight Back, Reclaim the Narrative, and Turn the Tides Against the Left.”
In his professional biography, Bruesewitz described himself as a “fierce advocate for the America First movement,” committed to promoting policies that prioritize American citizens and working to support Trump’s political vision.
Prior to his work with the Trump campaign, he had established himself as a top conservative political consultant with clients in Congress and the Senate.
Daily Mail noted that both the Trump-Vance transition team and X Strategies have been contacted for comment regarding the unexpected medical emergency.
