Jan. 6 committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-VA) said Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has “relevant” testimony for the committee.
Appearing on MSNBC’s Face the Nation on Sunday, Raskin was asked by host Major Garrett if the Jan. 6 committee still has interest in obtaining testimony from Ginni Thomas. Raskin declined to speak for the whole panel but said he personally believed she should testify.
“Speaking as one member and only as one member, I would say she has a relevant testimony to render,” the Georgia representative said. “And she should come forward and give it. I don’t want to overstate her role. We’ve talked to more than 1,000 people. But we’d like to hear from [Newt] Gingrich, and we’d like to hear from her, too.”
Ginni found herlsef under spotlight after emails emerged showing her asking Wisconsin State Sen. Kathy Bernier and State Rep. Gary Tauchen to overturn the results from the 2020 election.
“This responsibility is yours and yours alone — it doesn’t rest with any Board of Elections, Secretary of State, Governor, or even court,” she wrote in the email, obtained by a watch group.
“And it certainly doesn’t rest with the media. That’s why I am writing today to urge you to do your Constitutional duty. Please stand strong in the face of political and media pressure. Please reflect on the awesome authority granted to you by our Constitution. And then please take action to ensure that a clean slate of Electors is chosen for our state.”
