Senatorial candidate and Riverton, Utah, Mayor Trent Staggs remains resolute in his stance against the enforcement of coronavirus protocols, emphasizing the importance of freedom and the judgment of Americans to make decisions for their own well-being.
Staggs “vowed to ‘hold the line’ and refuse to enforce coronavirus protocols, insisting on his belief in ‘freedom’ and the ability of Americans to decide for themselves.”
He further elaborated on his unwavering opposition to COVID mandates during a conversation with Breitbart News.
“In 2020, when they decided to enforce business closures, social distancing, and masking, I directed our police not to enforce; if they bring it back, 100 percent I will once again hold the line,” he declared.
Riverton’s ethos revolves around the principle of freedom. Staggs believes that its residents possess a better understanding of governing their lives than bureaucrats from Washington, D.C.
“Riverton values freedom, and we firmly believe that our citizens have a better grasp on self-governance than distant DC officials,” he added.
Recent times have witnessed a resurgence of coronavirus mandates, especially in academic institutions and the entertainment industry. Mainstream media outlets persistently advocate for the reintroduction of face masks.
Concurrently, the Biden administration intensifies its efforts to instill a sense of urgency regarding the virus, especially as 2024 approaches. Their aggressive promotion of the latest booster shots this fall has raised eyebrows, with many speculating a potential return of mass lockdowns, reminiscent of 2020.
Morris Brown College in Atlanta recently made headlines by reverting to mask mandates, a significant shift from its earlier stance during the initial wave of the pandemic.
U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno expressed his vehement opposition to the reemergence of what he termed “tyrannical” coronavirus mandates.
“It’s time for Republicans to draw a line in the sand: Any school that reimposes mask or vax mandates should have all of their Federal funding cut,” Moreno said. “Any corporation that reimposes these mandates on their workers or consumers should be barred from receiving government contracts.”
