House Republicans recently unveiled a comprehensive dossier detailing 22 instances that they argue showcase President Joe Biden’s participation in his family’s purported “influence peddling schemes.”
This move stands in direct contradiction to claims made by Democrats and their liberal media allies, who assert there’s no substantial evidence to support Biden’s impeachment.
The impeachment inquiry against Biden was recently launched by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy emphasized that investigators uncovered a pervasive “culture of corruption” surrounding Biden, particularly in relation to his son Hunter Biden’s business ventures. Despite this, several left-leaning media outlets, including The Associated Press, have insinuated that GOP lawmakers lack a solid foundation for their actions.
The House Oversight Committee, however, has a different perspective.
“There is mounting evidence that Joe Biden was involved in his family’s influence peddling schemes, including while he served as Vice President,” the panel said. “However, Democrats and their corporate media allies continue to ignore this overwhelming evidence as they seek to distract the American people from the Biden family’s corruption. Below are over 20 examples of Joe Biden’s involvement.”
One notable example from the memo involves the testimony of Devon Archer, a former business associate of Hunter Biden. Archer detailed numerous instances during Joe Biden’s vice presidency where he engaged in discussions with his son’s foreign business partners. This has raised eyebrows regarding the intent and implications of these interactions. Archer further implicated the president, referring to him as “The Brand,” emphasizing his role in conveying “signals of power, access, and influence” that financially benefited the Biden family through foreign entities.
Another revelation from February 2014 highlighted Joe Biden dining with Russian and Kazakh oligarchs. These individuals were linked to significant financial dealings involving Hunter Biden and his associates. This information suggests a potential overlap between Biden’s official responsibilities and his family’s financial pursuits.
Further instances include a 2015 dinner with Hunter Biden’s foreign business partners, such as Vadym Pozharsky, an executive from the Ukrainian company Burisma, which was under a corruption investigation at the time. The committee’s release also spotlighted a meeting at the vice president’s official residence in 2015. This event, attended by Hunter Biden, Archer and other associates, raised concerns about their intentions to influence a United Nations position, shedding light on their deep-rooted government connections.
The committee’s findings also revealed that Joe Biden, under the pseudonym “Robert L. Peters,” was privy to a 2016 call with the Ukrainian president, which included Hunter, a board member of Burisma at the time. Another significant incident from December 2015 involved a correspondence between Biden business associate Eric Schwerin and Kate Bedingfield in the Office of the Vice President. The discussion revolved around media responses to Hunter Biden’s role in Burisma, with Bedingfield confirming that the “VP signed off on this.”
The dossier also highlighted a pattern of concealment. For instance, an email from May 2017 detailed how profits from a deal with CEFC, a company linked to the Chinese Communist Party, would be divided. Shockingly, Joe Biden was allegedly set to receive a 10% cut.
Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, chairman of the Oversight Committee, emphasized the committee’s dedication to uncovering the truth.
“This was the narrative: the president’s son’s laptop was Russian disinformation. Hunter Biden was a legitimate business guy, just like Jared Kushner. No Biden ever took money from China — that’s what Joe Biden said. No money ever changed hands while Joe Biden was vice president. Joe knew nothing about his son’s dealings. And Joe never met with or spoke with any of the foreign nationals who had wired the family money,” Comer said. “All of those things have been proven wrong because of the Republican majority and our investigation.”
