Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is sponsoring a bill to grant Kyle Rittenhouse the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor the legislative branch can award to someone.

The bill’s summary says the legislation will “award a Congressional Gold Medal to Kyle H. Rittenhouse, who protected the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.”

The bill likely won’t succeed given Democrats control both the House and Senate. It would also require two-thirds of both chambers of Congress.

The medal is given to people deserving of the “highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions by individuals or institutions.”

Rittenhouse did not mince his words this week when discussing Kenosha County prosecutor Thomas Binger this week when asked him about his trial and how the prosecution handled it.

During an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Rittenhouse called Binger “a corrupt person” who wanted to use the case to “make a name for himself.”

“In my belief, the prosecutorial misconduct in this case is ridiculous,” Rittenhouse said. “They knew I was innocent, but they still decided to bring these charges to make their name, to have a name. They wanted my head on their shelf.”

At another point in the interview, Rittenhouse said his legal team is in the process of going after individuals who slandered and defamed him in the media.

When Carlson asked Kyle if he planned to hold “liars to account” who defamed him, Rittenhouse responded, “I have really good lawyers who are taking care of that right now.”
