As many anticipated, Hamas terrorists ran back into Gaza and hid and now demand a truce.
According to the Daily Caller, Al Jazeera reported that “a Hamas senior official said that they are willing to discuss a truce with Israel after having achieved its targets.”
Israeli leadership has signaled they are ready to put a stop to the repeated attacks and threats from Hamas and Hezbollah — recent incidents include threats to annihilate Israel, car bombings, suicide attacks, stabbings and assassinations.
The most recent attack, which began Sunday morning, included the firing of more than 5,000 rockets and resulted in the death of approximately 1,000 Israelis, the vast majority of which are civilian, and the kidnapping of approximately 200. (Again, the strong majority kidnapped are civilian — including women and children.)
Israel has taken back the several dozen communities and military checkpoints that were briefly overrun by Hamas terrorists and, after warning residents to leave, are now pummeling Gaza to ensure Hamas can no longer operate in that area using human shields.https://twitter.com/DollarAndSense_/status/1711482535434211654
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Moussa Abu Marzouk, a senior official, said that Hamas had ”achieved its targets” and would be open to a truce or “something of that sort.”
Many are astounded by the comments and wonder why a group of less than 2,000 would attack Israel and butcher its citizens, knowing that Israel would be forced to commit to a fierce military response.
Hamas may have given Israel a bloody nose via a sucker punch, but Israel is fully capable of getting up and knocking Hamas out. Many ask, What “targets” would be worth the destruction of Gaza, the potential deaths of thousands of Palestinians, and the likely displacement of several hundred thousand more?
Equally strange, Marzouk seemed to gloat over the fact that Hamas kidnapped citizens whose dual citizenship includes people from Russia and China — two heavyweight countries that likely support the attack on Israel.
Earlier in the day, after Hamas launched more than 5,000 rockets into Israel, Abu Obaida, a spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, threatened to execute kidnapped civilians if Israel did not stop their retaliatory rocket attacks.
Attempting to justify their actions and ward off future Israeli strikes, Obaida said: “We have decided to put an end to the Zionist crimes against our people. Any targeting of our people without prior warning will be met with the execution of a civilian hostage.”
RTM previously reported that progressive members of the U.S. House of Representatives, known as the “Squad,” also called for a cease-fire and demanded Israel not retaliate.
