Concerned parents and conservatives nationwide are carefully appraising how retailers choose to promote “Pride Month,” warning that those who target children do so at their peril.
Flexing their economic clout, retailers who introduced LGBTQI+ themed products aimed at children in May have reported losing billions in the last two weeks.
However, in a battle of wills, several major retailers are pushing forward despite noting that Target, Kohl’s, and Bud Light boycotts have proved devastating.
In response to the retailer shedding billions in value, CEO Brian Cornell affirmed Target’s “commitment to transgenderism” while calling the pushback against their children’s clothing collection “gutwrenching.”
The New York Post reported that Target lost $13.8 in stock value in 12 days following its rollout of “Pride clothing” for children — including “tuck-friendly” bathing suits for transgender children.
Many eyes are on J.Crew as they introduce their “summer 2023 Pride collection,” which includes toddler clothing emblazoned with gay and trans flags.
The retailer’s website includes a quote from designers Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Bent, which some say signals J.Crew’s intent to target and indoctrinate children. The quote reads:
“The meaning of Pride changed when we had kids. It was no longer just pride for ourselves and our community, but also creating a world where our children feel seen, heard, and accepted.”
Old Navy offers LGBTQI+ themed children’s clothing. One newer product is a shirt that reads, “Love for all, All for Love,” against a rainbow flag. Another shirt has a rainbow-colored heart and the caption “Pride Match The Fam.”
Kohl’s is offering clothing for infants sporting gay and transgender flags.
Walmart’s Pride collection includes an LGBTQI+ themed rainbow onesie, a dress for toddlers, and a “Pride junior’s cover-up.”
Baby Gap has introduced Pride shirts in sizes zero to three months.
Carter’s baby and children’s clothing stores offer a variety of LGBTQI+ clothing items, including a onesie with a rainbow flag with the caption “Proud of my family.”
Standing with those pushing back is actor Kirk Cameron, whose new children’s book “Pride Comes Before the Fall!” hit the market on Thursday.
