Vanity Fair published an article suggesting the recent indictment of former President Donald Trump was causing turmoil in his marriage to former First Lady Melania. Their headline read: “A Storm’s Brewing At Home For Donald and Melania Trump With New Stormy Daniels Case Defense Strategy.”
Some have wished the Trumps’ ill will and have scrutinized every aspect of recent engagements for evidence of a fractured marriage.
People magazine reported on the couple’s response to the indictment: “Melania and Donald were both shocked when they were told” about the indictment, [according to] “a political source.”
“They weren’t expecting it, but Melania will support him. That’s what she does. They are a family,” the source said.
Many Twitter users were not so sure. One user suggested Melania would be happier if Donald received a lengthy prison sentence.
The Trumps received news of the indictment last Thursday but kept their appointment to dine with friends at a public restaurant at their Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.
The Western Journal noted that Trump adviser Gina Loudon shared that the Trumps “acted as if all was normal on Thursday at Mar-a-Lago.”
Noting that the Trumps appeared unfazed by the indictment, Loudon tweeted: “Beautiful evening here at the gorgeous Mar a Lago!”
Pushing back against those who hope the indictment will negatively impact Donald and Melania’s marriage, Loudon wrote: “Our REAL First Couple enveloped in the love of their friends and most loyal!”
A report in the Daily Mail noted:
“Mrs. Trump is strong. She is focused on her family and stands behind her husband, as she always has. For the past seven years, the left has made multiple attempts to smear and attack her family, and this is just the latest attempt to bring him down,” the source said.
In a separate report, the Daily Mail noted that neither Melania nor Barron Trump were observed in New York City on Monday as the former president prepared for a Thursday arraignment.
