A great Pyrenees named Moose has been adopted after the dog courageously saved his foster family from a boat fire. His act of heroism earned him accolades of a hero and a loving forever home in Virginia.
“It’s hard not to fall in love with a sweet fellow like that,” Moose’s new owner, Ciara Hill, said as she expressed admiration for the brave canine.
Hill was inspired to adopt Moose from the Portsmouth Humane Society after hearing about his valiant efforts saving his former adoptive family.
The dog had previously been adopted a day after the fire incident but was returned to the shelter due to compatibility issues.
“We saw that he had been returned, and I was talking to my husband,” Hill said in an interview with Fox News. “He was like, ‘Well, go get him.’” Following her husband’s advice, Hill welcomed Moose into their home.
“My other animals are welcoming him in, and he seems to be pretty comfortable,” Hill added.
Portsmouth Humane Society Executive Director Dyanna Uchiek advised potential adopters to take their time in making a decision when adopting to ensure compatibility with current pets owned by people looking to adopt an animal.
Hill confirmed that Moose has seamlessly integrated into their household, saying, “He has just made himself at home.”
In his new home, Moose will have plenty of company. The Hill family already has other pets, including dogs, cats, chickens and even a tortoise, the Fox report noted.
