Actor Jeremy Renner is in “critical but stable condition” in a Reno, Nevada, hospital following a snow plowing accident on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the actor provided a brief update to Deadline, noting that Renner sustained significant “injuries” after “experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snowing” early Sunday morning at his home in Reno.
Late breaking information notes that Renner’s life was saved by a quick-thinking neighbor who applied a tourniquet to the actor’s leg.
The accident occurred when Renner was using a snow plow machine called a “Snowcat.” The machine somehow ran over one of Renner’s legs.
A neighbor, a physician, rushed to his aid, applied a tourniquet that reduced blood loss, and kept Renner in stable condition until first responders arrived.
Renner was airlifted to a hospital and was initially listed in critical condition.
A new video shows the medical helicopter leaving the injury site in Reno, Nevada, at approximately 9:50 a.m.
A winter storm impacted the region over the weekend, and Renner was reportedly plowing the road of his residence so family members could come and go on New Year’s day.
The Daily Caller reported that police have cordoned off the accident scene and “impounded the Snowcat,” noting that the machine should have been equipped with standard “extensive safety features” designed to “prevent such accidents.”
An investigation is underway.
Renner remains in “critical but stable condition.” Medical staff described his injuries as “extensive,” and according to TMZ, reports indicate that in addition to lacerations on his leg, the actor suffered injuries to other parts of his body.
According to a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Sunday morning near Mt. Rose Highway in Reno. An excerpt from the release reads:
“At approximately 9:00 am on January 1, 2023, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada.”
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital. Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident.”
