Senate candidate Herschel Walker disputes a publication’s allegation he is not a model dad because he is hiding a son.
The Daily Beast Tuesday reported the Georgia politician had a ten-year-old son whom he was paying court-ordered support for. It called him a “secret son.” The Beast doubled down with a Thursday report saying Walker had another son who was not widely known because he was hidden.
“Herschel Walker, Critic of Absentee Dads, Has Yet ANOTHER Secret Son—and a Daughter” shouted the Beast’s headline with the catchy subtitle, “Who’s your daddy?”
“If you have a child with a woman, even if you have to leave that woman — even if you have to leave that woman — you don’t leave your child,” Walker said in a 2020 interview the Beast apparently referenced.
Walker’s campaign manager Scott Paradise confirmed in a statement earlier this week his candidate had a child with someone else before he was married.
“He’s proud of his children, said Paradise. “To suggest that Herschel is ‘hiding’ the child because he hasn’t used him in his political campaign is offensive and absurd.”
The Paradise statement also called media coverage of Walker’s second son “a complete double standard,” according to an NBC News report. Walker’s campaign manager noted their opponent, Raphael Warnock, is engaged in a child custody dispute with his ex-wife.
“He’s dodged voters by sealing the case and even has tried to dodge authorities,” Paradise said of the Democratic incumbent.
Walker stiff-armed the Beast in remarks reported by the Daily Wire.
“I have four children,” the former NFL standout reportedly said. “They’re not ‘undisclosed,’ they’re my kids.”
“I support them all and love them all,” added Walker, “I’ve never denied my children. I just choose not to use them as props to win a political campaign.”
The former football star asked what parent would want their children dragged down into the gutter that bare-knuckle political brawls can devolve into.
“Saying I hide my children because I don’t discuss them with reporters to win a campaign? That’s outrageous,” continued Walker.
“I can take the heat — that’s politics,” he remarked, adding, “but leave my kids alone!”
