The woman Donald Trump defeated in 2016 to become president Sunday posted a message of support for Finland’s prime minister.
Sanna Marin has been the center of controversy since video surfaced of the married Finnish leader dancing sensuously with a man not her husband. Images of Marin’s dancing wantonly at a party where bare-breasted women were photographed kissing each other has raised questions about her decorum and suitability to lead.
Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton posted a message of support for the Finnish leader on Twitter.
The Conservative Brief further reported:
The 2008 and 2016 Democratic presidential contender posted a photo of her apparently dancing while allegedly in Cartegena, Colombia, during a visit while serving under then-President Barack Obama, in support of Finland’s controversial prime minister, Sanna Marin, who was recently criticized for videos showing her dancing suggestively at a party with a man who wasn’t her husband and being kissed by bare-breasted women at her official home, The Daily Wire reports.
“As Ann Richards said, ‘Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backward and in high heels,’” Clinton wrote on Twitter in a post containing the photo. “Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State. Keep dancing, @marinsanna.”
Sanna responded by thanking Clinton in a post that included a heart emoji.
The Daily Wire adds:
Clinton quoted Richards’ 1988 keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention referencing Astaire and Rogers, but the line has been attributed to an earlier usage, in a 1982 Frank and Ernest cartoon by Bob Thaves.
Marin apologized after a photo revealed two bare-chested women kissing at her official residence, with one woman’s breasts only covered by a sign reading, “Finland.”
The Finnish PM told reporters in Helsinki that she asked friends over to “sauna, swim, and spend time together” following a music festival in July known as Ruisrock. She also said that the dancing and other incidents occurred in guest bathrooms that were downstairs in the official residence.
“In my opinion that photo is not appropriate. I apologize for that; that photo shouldn’t have been taken,” she said, according to YLE News.
“We were using the sauna facilities and the garden area, but we did not spend time inside the Kesäranta house, although the downstairs guest toilets were in use,” she noted further.
Sabina Sarkka, 33, a social media influencer, apologized for the female-to-female kiss, The Daily Mail reported.
The photo Clinton posted was from before her campaign against then-candidate Donald Trump, suggesting she has not had reason to celebrate since.
