His co-worker mentioned that he showed no signs of illness the day before his death. The official cause of his passing is yet to be determined.

Rubin was a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for many years, known for his laughter, charm, and caring personality that touched all who knew him. He was a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and a former host of the 2013 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Rubin’s passion for entertainment extended to owning a television production company, SRE Inc., which produced live red carpet events and the show “Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin.”
