Kaylee Goncalves’ father Steve said the family is beginning to see connections with the man police believe murdered her and three other college students.
Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were murdered in their three-story rental unit at 1122 King Road early November 13, Moscow, Idaho, Police Chief James Fry said.
Police determined Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was responsible for the deaths. He became a suspect after his DNA was reportedly found in the house where the four University of Idaho students were stabbed to death. It is unclear how police obtained matching DNA for Kohberger, who does not appear to have a criminal record.
Kohberger was arrested early Friday morning in Scranton, Pennsylvania, by state troopers and FBI agents. He is detained in Monroe County’s Correctional Facility awaiting extradition to Moscow, Idaho. After his extradition, he will face four first degree murder charges and one burglary charge, according to an Associated Press report.
Mr. Goncalves said no family member knows murder suspect Bryan Kohberger, but, since learning his name, they are starting to see connections between him and his daughter that they aren’t ready to discuss yet, according to an ABC News report.
“Now that there’s a person and a name that someone can specifically look for and see if there’s any connections in any way,” family attorney Shanon Grey told ABC. “So they’re just trying to figure it out.”
Mr. Goncalves vowed to be in court when Kohberger is returned to Idaho to face murder and burglary charges, the report added.
“This guy’s gonna have to look me in my eyes multiples times, and I’m going to be looking for the truth,” Goncalves said. “That’s really what I’m going to be looking for.”
