Former Daily Wire host Candace Owens has made a name for herself in recent months after spreading various allegations surrounding the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
On Sept. 10, Kirk was shot in the neck during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Provo, Utah. Authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, who remains in custody over the alleged killing.
Owens, who hosts the “Candace Owens Show,” has gained millions of followers and views since Kirk’s death. She has pushed multiple theories and has provided extensive information behind each one.
Her posts have gone viral across a wide range of social media platforms, leading many to share her beliefs.
Her first major claim focused on Israel. Owens suggested that the Jewish State may have played a role in Kirk’s assassination. She noted that Kirk refused to travel to Israel and allegedly declined a negotiation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Owens also pointed out that just days before his death, Kirk criticized the Israeli government, claiming it would attempt to “ethnically cleanse” Gaza.
In October, she shared text messages from a group chat where Kirk said he intended to leave the “pro-Israel cause.”
Kirk revealed that he had lost a Jewish donor after hosting Tucker Carlson at a Turning Point event. Carlson has been an outspoken critic of the Israeli government and Netanyahu, similar to Owens. After losing the donor, Kirk allegedly said he had “no choice” but to depart from the pro-Israel cause.
Owens then shifted her focus. She claimed that the Egyptian government, specifically two government aircraft, had been tracking movement linked to Turning Point events for years.
She stated that two Egyptian planes with the tail numbers SU-BTT and SU-BND routinely appeared in locations where Kirk hosted events. However, she later claimed the aircraft was following Erika Kirk, Charlie’s wife, instead of the Turning Point founder. “The person the planes were actually tracking for years was Erika,” Owens said. “Not Charlie, but Erika.”
In another controversial claim, Owens alleged that Kirk was “betrayed” by Turning Point USA. She did not say the organization was behind his killing, but alleged that it had “backstabbed” him.
During an interview with comedian Russell Brand, Owens presented messages she claimed came from Kirk the night before he was killed.
“There are people at Turning Point who Charlie texted the night before and said, ‘They’re going to kill me.’ Well, if you’re trying to figure out who killed Charlie Kirk, wouldn’t that be a good thing to come forward with?” Owens said.
In addition to accusing Turning Point of betrayal, Owens claimed the organization engaged in financial fraud and was under investigation by the IRS, as reported by the Daily Mail.
She urged donors to request refunds. “I am making a personal plea to every well-meaning person who donated to this Godforsaken organization to request a refund,” she said.
The Treasury Department under the Trump administration quickly denied Owens’ accusations.
Officials sent a letter to the new Turning Point CEO, Erika Kirk, confirming the organization was not under federal investigation. “The IRS is able to provide this type of information upon request by the taxpayer,” a Treasury official said. “And in this case, it’s hideous that malicious lies and smears obligated her to make the request.”
Owens’ dispute with Turning Point USA has divided conservatives and the MAGA base. The charity reportedly invited Owens to participate in an in-person debate to discuss her allegations, but she declined, citing a scheduling conflict.
