Twitter’s savior of free speech, Elon Musk, shared a treasure trove of internal emails with Substack writer Matt Taibbi. The writer began publishing them one at a time Friday, and some were real eye-openers that raise many questions.
Correspondence regarding Twitter’s suppression of New York Post reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop revealed the Biden campaign’s reach. Taibbi posted one email illustrating the Biden campaign asking Twitter to “review” specified accounts. A follow up thread shows the actor James Woods was included in a Democratic National Committee report, prompting a Biden review request.
“Celebrities and unknowns alike could be removed or reviewed at the behest of a political party,” Taibbi noted.
The conservative actor was not amused; he quickly blasted the president.
“How is the Twitter Files chicanery any different from Watergate in sum and substance?” Woods asked in a Twitter post. “Nixon resigned when his henchmen tried to subvert free speech.”
“Your turn, Mr. Biden.”
Woods was interviewed Saturday by telephone during a broadcast of the Fox News program “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Program anchor Tucker Carlson asked the actor how he felt upon learning he was targeted by the Democratic National Committee.
“I’m shocked,” Woods replied, “the way any other American would be if he were a target of a presidential candidate and a major political party.”
He added a story about a woman who alleged on Twitter he committed an action he considered bizarre. Woods said he later learned the bizarre controversy was conducted by the DNC. He said he won the related lawsuit.
Woods claims he has been targeted by Democrats for the last six years and, as a result, his professional life has been destroyed.
Carlson opined that Democrats seem to use civil law to squash opponents, noting how Alex Jones owes billions for saying things people did not like.
“I can guarantee you one thing,” Woods replied. “I will be getting a lawyer. I will be suing the Democratic National Committee.”
The actor added that, win or lose, he plans to stand up for the rights of every American.
“I think these people are vermin,” he continued.
Woods expressed outrage that Democrats would use their power to squash everyday people for posting tweets they objected to. He said it saddened him to think of people who put out a tweet and have their lives destroyed.
He explained to Carlson that Twitter once blocked him for eight months. “You know why I was blocked?” he asked? “For quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson.”
