A disagreement over a birthday discount at a Jersey Mike’s location in Baltimore, Maryland, turned into a viral confrontation after a customer recorded a heated exchange with an employee.

The video, which circulated online this week, showed the customer and an employee identified as David arguing inside the sandwich shop over a request for a discounted meal.

The incident sparked widespread debate online, with viewers divided over the actions of both the customer and the employee.

The footage begins with the customer asking David to repeat remarks from an earlier exchange.

David acknowledged telling her to leave, first saying, “Please and thank you,” before later telling her, “Get the f*ck out,” as the confrontation escalated.

The disagreement centered around the customer’s request for a birthday discount.

According to the Daily Mail, the woman said the offer was available through Jersey Mike’s mobile app and that she was attempting to redeem it during her birthday celebration.

During the exchange, David referenced the discount request and criticized the customer over the cost of the meal. The customer responded by saying the situation was occurring on her birthday and accused him of treating her unfairly.

As the confrontation continued, the employee repeatedly used profanity, telling her “F*ck your birthday” and telling her to leave.

During the exchange, the customer told the employee that his actions could have consequences for his employment and later mentioned possible legal action.

David responded that he was the manager on duty and said corporate had already been contacted.

According to Nerd Wallet, the customer eventually purchased a meal and left the restaurant.

The customer, identified as Miesha, later described the interaction as humiliating and said the incident overshadowed her birthday.

In a social media post, she claimed she was insulted and treated disrespectfully while attempting to use a birthday offer.

She also alleged that the confrontation occurred in front of other customers, some of whom left the restaurant during the dispute. Miesha said she contacted Jersey Mike’s and intended to pursue legal action over the incident.

Online reactions to the confrontation were sharply divided.

Many users defended the employee, arguing that customers are not automatically entitled to free food and criticizing what they described as an excessive reaction to the denied discount request.

Some users argued Jersey Mike’s should consider the circumstances of the confrontation before taking action against the employee.

Others argued the employee’s language toward the customer was inappropriate regardless of the disagreement.

Several social media users questioned whether the customer should have expected a free sandwich without a specific promotion or coupon.

Others said the employee’s response was too aggressive and that the situation could have been handled differently.

The debate centered on customer expectations, employee conduct, and how businesses should respond when disputes over promotions or loyalty offers escalate.

The video quickly gained significant attention online, with reports stating it received millions of views and thousands of reactions.

Jersey Mike’s has not issued a public statement about the incident, although the customer said the company contacted her regarding the matter.
